Recycling old electronic parts and printer equipment
Across Canada, extended producer responsibility (EPR) programs are expanding to cover a wider range of electronic products — including office printers, ink cartridges, toner cartridges, and other printer-related equipment. These programs are designed to reduce electronic waste by making it easier to return end-of-life products for proper recycling.
We want to help you understand your options. Below you'll find guidance on what types of products may be eligible for recycling, and links to the official programs in your province.
What types of products may be eligible?
Eligibility varies by province and program, but electronic recycling programs across Canada may accept items such as:
- Desktop and office printers (inkjet and laser)
- Ink cartridges and toner cartridges
- Printer maintenance parts (e.g., maintenance boxes, waste ink tanks)
- Scanner units and multifunction devices
- Other small electronic office equipment
Please note: Eligibility depends on your province and the specific product. Not all items are accepted in all locations. Always check your provincial program before dropping off equipment.

A note on extended producer responsibility (EPR)
Canada is updating its EPR framework, and several provinces have introduced or expanded regulations in 2025–2026 that affect electronic products including printers and office equipment. These changes are intended to shift more responsibility for end-of-life product management to producers and distributors.
We are monitoring these developments to ensure we meet our obligations as a distributor of printer parts and accessories. If you have questions about how these rules apply to products you've purchased from us, please contact us and we'll do our best to help.
